Hence if you are short on money but still don’t want to compromise with the usability and look of your window treatment, making your own wooden blinds can be the best solution. If you have basic woodworking skills, you can easily make the perfect looking blinds for your house window.

Once you complete making it, the wooden blinds will give you a wonderful sense of enjoyment and accomplishment. That you may not get by spending a lot of money in buying wooden window blinds from a store.

Below mentioned are the steps you need to follow in making a wooden window blind.

1. First of all, you need to measure the width and length of the window you want to make the blinds for. But you need to measure it from inside the window frame. And after that cut the conduit an inch shorter than your measurement. Then set aside the number of slats you require to cover your window.

2. Keep the slats side by side to line up the long edges. Although The heights of the slats can be a bit different the width of the slats on its long edge should be roughly the same.

3. Drill hole in each slat that should be big enough to hold the string twice.

4. Now you need to cut the string that is a little more than twice the length of the window, that you are planning to put the blind in.

5. Now you need to thread a string on each side of the blind through the first slat. Loop it through the slat and thread it from the hole again. Then take the string through the next slat and loop it around through the same hole. Continue the same procedure on each side of the blind.

6. Once you reach the last stat, tie the string in a double knot, and cut it off. Remember not to tie the knot too close to the end slat as you will have to hang the blind through these looped knots.

7. Then you will have to measure and mark two points inside of the window frame, that resembles the hanging loops at the blind top. Then screw two cup hooks into the window frame.

8. At the very last step, all you need to do is just turning the wooden blind around so that only a bit of the string entering the holes on each side of the slats come to your view, rather than the entire string running across them after that just hang it in your window and you are ready to go.
